City View Residence in Austin, Texas by Dick Clark Architecture
Fri, Sep 3, 2010
U.S. architects Dick Clark Architecture have completed the City View Residence, located in the capital of U.S. city Texas. Inspired by the clients’ desire to live in a house that reflects their values and lifestyle, this house has a minimal architecture, sustainable materials and very large windows and sliding doors. The living area presents a cube from glass, which continues into a pool deck. There the visitors can enjoy the amazing view of the Austin skyline.
Already having quite a list of modern designs in the city, this project was large in scale and had an amazing skyline view of Austin. The approach was to create a layout that was open and ready for entertaining. The extensive glass living area, surrounded by large sliding doors invites guests to jump from inside to out, where ever the party may be.
The material palette is minimal intentionally, as are the unexpected details – such as the floating bookcase slash art display millwork piece, which separates the public entry hall from the private bedroom wing. In a similar pattern, a see through oak screen separates the stair from the kitchen.
The home features exciting green design, keeping the environmental impact minimal include the 3kw solar panel system, instant hot water heaters, bio foam insulation, rain water collection that irrigates a good portion of the lost, very efficient mechanical systems, and low e glass.
