Great Eco Apartment in Saint Petersburg

Today I present to you another interior of the Russian architect Andrei Shmonkin. This home is made in the spirit of the fashionable eco style as manifested in the choice of materials and a special approach to the organization of the living environment. This apartment is located in a magnificent building in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The beautiful view over the near park influenced the choice of color range of autumn.

The central hall divides the space into private and public zones. Kitchen, dining room and living room are traditionally grouped together. Despite the fact, that the interior is completed recently, it has no gloss inherent in the replica. For finishing materials applied with a simple texture: on the walls – encaustic, but not complicated, on the floor – parquet of toned oak.

The main idea is the interior to be associated with abstract painting. One of the most active color “spots” is a wall in the area of the kitchen-dining room. For it Andrei Shmonkin picked cherries, it gave the texture of the wall a special charm and warmth. The opposite wall is left white.There is a built-in fireplace with a rough iron furnace. Luminous rectangular niche – it is not only a source of light, but another detail, added to the interior of the broad strokes of the interior designer .

The lounge room is separated by black glass. The interior is reflected in the glossy surface of the glass, and the illusion is for more space than it actually is.

Although the interior has turned bright enough with color combination of red cherry wood, black glass and furniture with red and green upholstery, it is perceived as natural background, which perfectly paints the nature – sky, water, and golden autumn.
“The interior was formed in accordance with the green concept. Here we have used only natural materials, to which I refer not only wood but also ceramics, glass and iron. And there are no decorative elements, only the net plane and the air …”, says Andrew Shmonkin.
