Hybreed Chairs by Charlotte Kingsnorth
Wed, Sep 29, 2010
London-based designer Charlotte Kingsnorth designed this fat chairs, entitled Hybreed. The chairs are one-off pieces made up of upholstering reclaimed chair frames with bulging upholstery. Designed specifically to represent the rolls of flesh on chair’s obese owner, the seatings were presented from 23-26 September as part of the London Design Festival.
This interestingly hilarious concept is definitely worth checking out in the featured gallery.
The series is a development of Kingsnorth’s graduation project from 2009, entitled At One.

In both canvas work and surface embroidery an embroidery hoop or frame can be used to stretch the material and ensure even stitching tension that prevents pattern distortion.
